SCI AUTOMATION TODAY
SCI Automation today is a global designer and manufacturer of plasma cleaning solutions.
We offer a wide range of standard plasma cleaners with different levels of automation:
- Batch plasma systems: from lab applications, prototyping up to full production equipment.
- Inline plasma systems: SMEMA compliant out of the box, fully integrated in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). This systems provide full reliability for a guaranteed production 24/7 while keeping a reduced footprint and good maintenance access.
- Strip plasma systems: these systems have been designed specifically to clean lead frames in magazines. Different levels of automation are available: manual (like a batch system), semi-automatic or fully automatic with possible integration with OHT systems or AGV communication.
- High-power plasma systems: these systems have been designed to sustain high power plasma processes over long periods of time. Main applications of these systems are thick layer processing or removal or surface functionalization.
Our designs incorporate years of experience accumulated providing plasma cleaning and automated solutions mostly to the Semiconductors and Automotive markets. All our systems are SECS/GEM compatible, further integration with custom protocols is possible as well.

SCI headquarters are located in Asia in Singapore. In our HQ we have support for sales and service as well as a local stock for spare parts.
Our manufacturing is located in Chennai, India since 2018. There we manufacture all our plasma and automation solutions that are installed worldwide
We have local support for service in Europe, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore carried out directly by SCI personnel or through our selected business partners.

HISTORY
Foundation
Dr. Enrico Malatesta launched SCIPlasma Ltd. (now SCI Automation Pte. Ltd.) in January 2000 in Milan, Italy.
The first years were busy creating the first plasma cleaning models and servicing mainly the Italian market.
These years led to the development of different batch plasma systems and plasma desmearing systems. One of these is the PC216 plasma desmearing system shown in the historic pictures here below

Establishing Industry Credibility
In 2004, SCI won the first opportunity to supply a significant number of systems to a major European semiconductor company.
This strategy partnership led to the development of our first automatic plasma cleaning model, the Quadrio, which was focused entirely on plasma cleaning lead frames in magazines.
This system featured new creative solutions to handle the movement of lead frames from their magazines to the plasma chamber that insured no damage or contamination.
The Quadrio 5 packed a lot of features in a compact volume defining it as a high-value production tool.

Strategic Expansion into Asia
Soon after the success of the Quadrio, Dr. Enrico Malatesta took the decision to bring SCI closer to where its customers were producing. The company was migrated to Singapore which allowed better support to all the existing Asian semiconductor customers. This also allowed new customer acquisitions both in the Semiconductor and Automotive spaces.
Present day
Ever since the move in Asia, SCI has been a successful manufacturer of Plasma cleaning and etching equipment with hundreds of installations and a world-wide presence.
